Notes from 2007 Winter Meeting
On the field conduct a. Team President handles operations when not on the field, the second we step on the pitch, it is the captain’s duty to take control.
b. There should be one and only one person who speaks to the referee and that is the team captain.
c. If our captain tells you to shut the fuck up, you better shut the fuck up!
d. If you are not the captain and you see someone act in an insubordinate manner towards your captain (i.e. talking back, disregarding an order, etc.) it is your duty as a member of this team to instruct said player to listen to their captain. Failure to do so should result in their exit from the playing field till they feel compelled to do as their captain has instructed. I cannot emphasize the importance of keeping order on the field and dealing swiftly with those who feel they are better than everyone else.
e. The first choice for team captain should begin with vice president followed by the rest of the elected team officials.
f. Once a captain has been voted on, he is captain whenever he is present
g. If team captain is absent, team president should fill in unless other arrangements have been made.
Playing time pecking order a.Team dues paid b. Practice attendance c. Played in previous game d. Arrive on time game day (Kurt’s rule) e. Field set up f. Cipp paid g. Social dues up to date, h. OSU Marion student. i. Skill Level—I know you think that you’re God’s gift to rugby, but this is a DIII social league and we don’t give two shits!
Practice Schedule and Venues
a. I am no longer in charge. If you want to hold a practice in Columbus, someone needs to step up as a coach/organizer and spearhead the task. Delaware is another viable location with the same issues as the latter entailed.
b. What day is the Marion Practice?
Nash Bash
Spring Schedule
Miscellaneous
a. This is a team sport. You may not always get to play where you want or you may have to sit out for a half, just keep in mind that those who are in charge have been doing this a long time and more often than not make the best decisions they can in the of being fair to all involved. I know you want to play, I know you have a position you prefer. Take it easy because 9 times out of ten, you’ll get what you want.
b. On that note, no position is permanent and if you’re one of the few who attend practice on a regular basis or have been with the team for a while, you MUST LOOK TO ACCEPT A LARGER ROLE IN THE CLUB! If you’ve been with the club for over two seasons and you’re still playing winger, something needs to be done. If you’ve been with Marion over five year and you haven’t donated time as an officer, something needs to be done.
Awards
MVP: Mike Campbell
Rookie--Wes McKorkle
New Player: Luke Evans
Officer elections
a. President—Mike Campbell
b. Vice—Mike Smith
c. Treasurer—Some form of checks and balances needs to be implemented in regards to our checkbook. Two people need to be involved, one person holding the checkbook, the other working the spreadsheet. Rick holds the check book and that’s great, we just need someone keeping track of who has paid team dues, CIPP dues and social dues in addition to double-checking figures. As the list of active players increases, are greater weight will be placed on paying the various dues in order to play and the treasurer will need to be able to give that information to the captain.
d. Social Chairman—Dave Carr
e. Captain-Mike Smith
